James Akwe is an experienced finance professional with post-qualification expertise across Nigeria’s financial and infrastructure sectors. He holds a PhD in Accounting & Finance and is a chartered and systems accountant. His core areas include capital markets, public assets concession, PPP regulation and compliance, corporate and project finance, financial modelling and analysis, treasury management, and revenue assurance.
He holds several industry-recognized and internationally respected certifications and professional qualifications, including FCA, FCTI, ACS, CPFA (UK), IFRS Certification (ICAEW), and ACSA (USA). Dr. Akwe is a resourceful and committed professional who performs effectively in both leadership and team settings. He also champions diversity and applies professionalism, innovation, and strategic insight to support the achievement of organizational goals.
Dr. Akwe is an accomplished academic researcher who has authored and co-authored over fifteen high-impact publications in local and international peer-reviewed journals. He currently serves as Technical Adviser to the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC). In this role, he provides strategic advice on financial analysis, public-private partnership (PPP) frameworks, regulatory compliance, infrastructure financing, governance, and policy implementation to strengthen infrastructure development and concession management in Nigeria.
