Executive order on accelerated PPP contracts underway – ICRC Boss
To fast track the process of procuring public private partnerships (PPPs) projects in Nigeria, the Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission (ICRC) is preparing an executive order that will be sent to the president for assent.
The long procurement process of PPP projects has come under intense criticism lately by stakeholders saying it’s a disincentive for business.
The ICRC said the complaints were not lost on it thus it has began a process to shorten the procurement processes of a PPP without compromising the integrity of the projects and benefits to the public.
Engr. Chidi Izuwah, the acting Director General, Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission (ICRC), disclosed this to our correspondent at the sidelines on the occasion of a PPP capacity building programme organized by ICRC and the Australia Alumni Association of Nigeria – supported by the Australian government for PPP unit heads across federal ministries, departments and agencies held in Abuja on 28th August 2017.
“We are certainly working on ways to accelerate the process. We are working on an Executive Order for accelerated PPP procurements and we are hopeful that within the next few weeks, we will finish and present it to the president for approval”.
